So in Australia during the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras a new play is going to be performed. A play called Corpus Christi. A play that depicts Jesus as a man infatuated with Judas and who even preforms a marriage between two Apostles.
Now understandably many people are upset about this play, I'm just not sure that I'm one of them. I understand how it could offend the "sensibilities" of some people. I can even see how some would think that it is an attack on their religion. But is it truly?
The playwright himself is a Christian (in the article he "claims he is Christian" like someone who writes something like that play couldn't really be a Christian or something). If that is a way that he views the Christ story is that really a bad thing?
It's not like the Danish cartoons who were draw by non-Muslims and portrayed the Prophet as a terrorist, bringing harm to others.
I cannot believe that a man loving a man, or a woman loving a woman, would bring harm to others. Nothing in this world would change my thoughts on that.
And this will be the point when people start saying (if they haven't already) "But it's a sin. The Bible says so". Yes you are right the Bible does say so. In Leviticus, where it also says not to eat shellfish, or to work on the Sabbath. So who gets to choose what rules stick and what rules don't?
When I first came out I told a friend who I thought I could trust. She told me I was going to Hell. When I told my Psychiatrist about that he said that 10 percent of *all* species are gay. He also said that God doesn't make mistakes.
So can we be sure that Jesus wasn't part of that 10 percent? Can we be sure that he was? No and no. So instead of debating about what Jesus liked why don't we focus on what Jesus taught, for example, (a quote that also appears in Leviticus) "love thy neighbour as thyself".
"Then said Jesus ... Go, and do thou likewise." Luke 10:37
Don't just preach it, do it.

Honeydew Melon
So why is eating healthily more expensive than eating crap???
Would someone mind explaining that to me?
I mean if you get things from the salad bar here at school you pay $1.11/100g. Do you know what it really is that you are paying for? Water. Water is what makes fruits and veggies so heavy. Maybe sugar too. But mostly it's water.
So I got a salad and a fruit bowl for lunch today. Cost me $7.50. The person ahead of me got a personal sized pizza, a small bag of chips and a drink for $5.50. Why is that?
Upon further inspection of my fruit bowl I got 15 pieces of honeydew melon, 3 pieces of muskmelon (cantaloupe) and 1 grape. That's right one, single, solitary grape. cheapskates. So I'm gonna sit here and eat my honeydew melon and fume.

Tolerance
Do any of you know what it's like to be afraid to kiss the person you love because you might get beaten up?
I do.
I'm not asking for anyone to like it, accept it or love it. Tolerance, that's all I'd like. For people to be tolerant. So that I can be who I truly am without fear. Without wondering if someone is going to say something rude to me.
I don't know... I just want to not be afraid.

Trends That Should be Brought Back
1. The Top Hat
I don't know why but I just feel like there's something so distinguished about it. It looks so much better than the ball caps or toques everyone insists on wearing. And no, I'm just saying that just guys should start wearing them again. Heck, I'd like to wear one.

2. The Cape
While it may seem a little odd I just feel like it is so... powerful almost. I was walking once and my jacket was flowing around me like a cape and I just felt so important. A black cape, that's what I would like... to go with the top hat.
3. Dances
I don't just mean holding each other around the waist and swaying back and forth to the music. I mean dances with names and steps that everyone know. Like the Charleston, or the Foxtrot. I think that I am part of the first generation that actually doesn't have any dances. It'a just really pathetic actually. To see an example click here.
4. Radio Shows
They're so much better than TV. I mean you actually get to imagine what's going on. My favourite is The Shadow.

It's the Most Stressful Time of the Year
That's right it's Christmas. The time were we sit around with our families and pretend to enjoy their company all in the name of Christmas Cheer.
Wow, what fun. I mean it's fun for the first little bit but then the tension starts to mount and sooner or later everyone is at each other's throats because Aunt Velma has had too much stuffing, and Uncle Dick is, well, just being a dick.
Let's face it sometimes Christmas is just too much and people just need to take a deep breath and remember that Christmas comes once a year for a reason and it's about being a good person to all. Sometimes being a good person includes not forcing people to be together who don't want to be.
"God bless us, everyone"

The Weather
Ok, So looking out the window right now reminds me so much of Rick Mercer's Weather Rant. Everyone was talking about how we were going to get this huge snow storm and there would be 25-30 cm of snow.
I woke up this morning and looked out the window, and I think it would be stretching it to say that we got 15 cm of snow. But the school is closed. I don't have to go to work, don't get me wrong that's ok but I called my boss and she didn't even know that the school was closed. Chances are she looked out her window at home and thought "Why would it be closed?"
I mean sure, I'd have to dress like Nanook of the North to get to the library, but this is Canada, that's just what we do. As Rick says "that's why God invented long johns".
This is a sad, sad place we live in when Canadians are afraid of their weather.

Tin Man: Not Your Average Woodsman
So I finally found part 3 of Tin Man. It's really awesome. When I first started watching it I thought it was going to be a remake of the Wizard of Oz, but it's not. It's what happened a couple generations after Dorothy. At first I couldn't believe that they were taking something as timeless as the Wizard of Oz and changing it completely, but about half way through part two you find out it's not.
I must say though it was amazing. It has the winged monkeys, crazy tornados, good vs evil, hot air balloons, the whole 9 yards. It definately makes a great movie.
